Ann Arbor Golf & Outing, a.k.a. the “Golf Course”, is by far the most popular place to Michigan football parking and tailgating. Every football game, Park n Party books a large number of reservations for the Golf Course.
It’s always a good idea to book your parking reservation for the Golf Course as far in advance as possible. Parking and tailgating at the Golf Course can be a bit overwhelming for those unfamiliar with the inner workings of this near chaotic machine.
Following is a primer for those who have never parked or tailgated at the Golf Course and for those who have but want to refresh their memories with respect to how things work. So let’s begin at the beginning.
Entering the Golf Course
The Golf Course has two main entrances, Gate 1 and Gate 3. The first, Gate 1, is located on the south side of Stadium Boulevard directly across from Crysler Arena. Gate 1 is just east of the corner of Stadium Boulevard and South Main Street and west of the bridge that passes over State Street. This entrance to the Golf Course is for Club members, Season Pass holders, and those with Park n Party reservations for handicap parking. If you’re parking in the handicap section, you MUST have your handicap placard. Otherwise, you’ll be directed to park in a non-handicap area.
The second entrance to the Golf Course, Gate 3, is off South Main street, across from Pioneer High School. This is the entrance through which Park n Party reservation holders must enter. There are two entrances to a golf course off South Main Street. If you’re travelling NORTH on South Main Street (towards the Big House), the first gated entrance you’ll come upon is for the University of Michigan Golf Course. This is NOT an entrance to Ann Arbor Golf & Outing. Continue north on South Main Street, about 500 feet, and the next gated entrance will be Gate 3, it’s on the right-hand side of the road.
For games that start at 3:30 p.m. or earlier, the Golf Course opens at 7:30 a.m. All vehicles must exit the Golf Course no later than two (2) hours after the conclusion of the game.
Tailgating at the Golf Course
The big attraction at the Golf Course is tailgating. There’s nothing like enjoying pregame festivities with thousands of football fans! Here are some of the dos and don’t of tailgating t the Golf Course:
- Gas grills are permitted.
- Charcoal grills, deep fryers, and fire pits are not permitted.
- Trailers up to 16′ length and 9′ in width are permitted. You MUST secure a separate reservation for the trailer and your vehicle.
- Motor homes, RVs, buses, and large trucks are not allowed.
- Tents/Canopies are allowed, no larger than 10′ x 12′.
- Tents/Canopies must be placed behind your vehicle. They may not be next to your vehicle or occupy traffic lanes.

Weather Related Issues
Weather can be an issue at the Golf Course. If it rains or snows heavily before a game, the possibility exists that the Golf Course will be closed to the public. In the event of a weather related closure, under normal circumstances, the Golf Course will permit members, Season Pass holders, and Park n Party reservation holders to park at the Golf Course on game day.
Park n Party keeps its Golf Course reservation holders updated in the event weather issues arise.
